About Our Podcast
Garbage Or Great is a podcast focused on helping Magic: The Gathering players get the best bang for the buck by taking an in-depth look at some of the more unheralded, underrated, and unseen cards in the multiplayer Commander format.
We want to see players have a fun and diverse play experience every time they sit down at the table by helping players bring that “wow” factor with some innovative card choices.
Meet Our Hosts
Bruce
I’m the old man of the pair. My play style tends to be more based on an attrition-based understanding of the game of Commander and many of my card choices reflect this older approach. While I may be older, I am still trying to grow and adapt and learn from my younger partner in crime, Sneaky Pete, who has a knack for stealing a victory out of nowhere. I also represent an older player base who may not have access to playing at an LGS and needs to cultivate a longer view to my playgroups because we frequently play in someone’s home or kitchen. To me, I want to see my deck do something cool and don’t really need to win to enjoy the game (although I do like a win once in a while).
Sneaky Pete
I got into Magic: The Gathering around 2017 through some friends and bought my first sealed product as a guild kit to play 60-card. I started playing the Commander format soon after and was probably the best misplayer at the table. As I got more interested in deck building and strategy, I really got into synergies and combo lines of play. No longer a total infinite combo mad scientist, my style of play is more systematic and focuses on efficiency and hidden synergies. I like finding old bulk to possibly turn trash into treasure! I have a few local playgroups and found a lot of great community on Discord playing through Spelltable and Convoke. Bruce and I have been playing together for a little over 6 years now and hosting since around 2022!
